Oakland-based artist Eric Bohr presents Tending the Bones, a new body of work inspired by the rich and complex relationship we have with ancestry. Using found objects and organic materials as well as traditional paint and plaster, the artist creates an homage to those who have gone before. Intrigued by the extensive genealogical research done by his mother, the artist calls out his ancestors by name in paintings and objects. Both large and small scaled works conjure memory and honor the lives, work, and spirit of all ancestors, bringing to modern light the peoples of our past.
Eric Bohr was born in Lansing, Michigan, studied under Michael Jacobs in Venice, California.
