For years Tara Esperanza has adored the succulent varietal Chopsticks. She imagined painting them against a red background as an abstract image. Being a realist painter, Tara put the image in her memory bank and thought she would pull it out when she wanted to paint something more abstract. Then 2020 happened and Tara actually experienced that surreal, red sky. The unimaginable fires that raged in Northern California created an image in Tara’s mind that was no longer abstract. The red sky became a reality that those who live in the Bay Area will not forget.
