In Wire Hum, Peter Honig presents large format still life and landscape photographs together with a collection of personal assemblages of found objects. His precise black and white meditations on the ends of toilet paper rolls share the walls with literally unfocused chromatic studies of the artist’s Santa Barbara environs. These works are in dialogue with a half dozen pedestal-mounted, free-range sculptures that inhabit the center of the exhibition space. In uniting these disparate conscious states, the artist presents a humorous vision of a universe that is simultaneously grandly intimate and vaguely monumental.
Peter Honig has exhibited nationally and internationally over the last 25 years. Originally from the Boston Area, he attended Hampshire College, and then moved to Berkeley. For the past eight years he has been living in Santa Barbara, in the company of his wife, 2 cats and 22 21 quail.
