Biagini deconstructs discarded books and uses them beginnings for her mixed media pieces. In this show, Minglements, she uses image transfer and paint to reference images from the natural world. Abstracting microscopic images of leaves and playing with these shapes she explores the relationships between that which we “see” with the naked eye, microscopic vision and felt experience.
Jo Ann was born in Oakland California and earned an MFA in Ceramics from the California College of Arts and Crafts. She has had numerous shows at various venues most recently at the Annex at the National Institute of Artists with Disabilities in Richmond, California. Her work was recently acquired by the California Pacific Medical Center for their new facility in San San Francisco. Her work is represented by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art Artists’ Gallery and Mercury Twenty. She teaches at Creative Growth Art Center in Oakland.
